Anthony Maynard Sportive 2010 - Entries now Open

Following the huge success of the inaugural event, entries are now open for the second Anthony Maynard Sportive, promoted by Reading Cycling Club, on Sunday July 18th 2010.

“Really fantastic”... “Lovely atmosphere really well organised”... “Great route”... “Loved the course”... “Surprisingly hilly”... “Great, really enjoyed it”... “Very well organised, very friendly, very well signed”... “The food was superb”... “More than just a sportive”... “Great camaraderie”... “Can’t wait until 2010”... are just some of the comments from participants in the 2009 event.

In addition to being very well received by the riders, the 2009 Anthony Maynard Sportive raised over £6000 to support the event charities.

“We want the 2010 Anthony Maynard Sportive to be even better.” said Event Director, John Hollands. “It will continue to be a great tribute to Anthony and his love of cycling. We will have the same challenging courses as last year, 110km and 195km of fast rolling Berkshire & Wiltshire Downs riding at its best. For 2010, we have enhanced the facilities at the Theale Green HQ to include improved parking and more space for riders to use pre and post event.” He continued, “Given the fantastic feedback from the 2009 event, we’re expecting a sell-out this year and with rider numbers being limited to 500 you will need to enter now to guarantee your place.”

The event is being held to honour Reading Cycling Club’s Anthony Maynard who, aged 25, tragically lost his life in July 2008 when struck by a vehicle whilst cycling in an evening club ride. Organised by his club mates, the Anthony Maynard Sportive is run on a not for profit basis with proceeds being distributed to charities that reflect Anthony’s interests.

Further details and online entry can be found at www.anthonymaynardsportive.org

Pro Vo2 training camp - Gran Canaria 7th April 2010

If the above interests you then keep reading....

Numero uno of this years Training Camps is ready to book!!!!!
Please look at the information page here

Then call Sports Tours International (STI) to book your place on what i know is going to be a truly aaaaaaaaaawesome camp ... so much lined up for it, where you will learn loads about how to train and race your distances.

We will do something specific everyday and spend a good portion of time helping you practise your fuelling (nutrition) and correct pacing.

You can book your place by placing a deposit of £100 at the moment!!! ... and then full payment is needed 8weeks out, so in about another month. Seriously ... if you want to do this camp, you need to book as it is open to the public and sports tours will be selling it on their sites too.

As mentioned on the FaceBook message i sent out on Sunday, we already have about 15+ who are defs... and we will need to cap it between 30-40max people

Remember there is an option for partners who wont be training which works out about £150 cheaper and if bring kids, then under 12s go for free and eat for free.

Maximuscle will be sponsoring the camp with its endurance line, so there will be no excuses for smashing it up those Gran Canarian Hills!!!!

If you are going to take the option which includes you having a 2010 cannondale bike out there instead of lugging your bike out, then you just need to a) email me your height / normal frame size and b) preference on a road or TT bike (there are about 6+ slice TT bikes there, then the rest are road, which you can always bring your tri bars out with you)

OK. Dont Mess about, from chatting to you all, you all want to go, so get on and at least secure your place by putting the deposit down... just ring sports tours on 0161 703 8161 (cycling / triathlon department - option 2)

ROCK ON!!!
